About chemical peels:

Chemical peels are a phenomenal way for patients to reverse visible signs of aging and sun damage without surgery. Chemical peels come in three types; light, medium, and deep. The procedure is personalized based on the patient’s individual concerns and end-goals. Whether you’d like a quick pick-me-up for your skin or a long-term solution for more severe concerns, Ola Bella has a chemical peel procedure that can help.

HOW DO CHEMICAL PEELS WORK?

Chemical peels work by resurfacing the skin one layer at a time until the desired effect is achieved. The process triggers the body’s natural self-healing process and facilitates faster cellular turnover. Chemical peels also trigger long-term collagen production for improving overall skin health. Treatments can be customized to suit a variety of concerns ranging from pigmentation problems, acne scarring to lines and wrinkles.

ARE YOU A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL?

You may be a good fit for chemical peels if you’d like to reverse visible signs of aging and sun damage on the face or back. Chemical peels can be effective for nearly all skin types, textures, and tones. Opt for a chemical peel a few weeks before a big event or social situation for gorgeous blemish-free skin.

Routine chemical peels make an excellent treatment option for patients who are seeking preventative care. Keep skin looking young, healthy, and fresh with regular chemical peels. Ola Bella’s Medical Aesthetics practitioner can help create a personalized treatment plan according to your individual needs and goals.

WHAT TYPES OF PEELS ARE AVAILABLE?

Our practitioner will help determine which type of peel is right for you at the time of your initial consultation. Please see our product page for additional information.

HOW LONG DOES A TYPICAL TREATMENT TAKE?

Treatment times can vary depending on the type of peel chosen. Certain peels have active ingredients that work in as little as 15-minutes. Conversely, deeper peels may take up to an hour or more as each layer of skin is gently exfoliated. Your Medical Aesthetics practitioner will advise you on treatment times at the time of your initial consultation.

WHAT RESULTS WILL I SEE?*

You can see smoother, brighter, and tighter skin following your chemical peel. Chemical peels help reverse the aging process and improve overall skin quality. Patients typically see the best results 2-3 weeks after a superficial chemical peel. Full results from a medium or deep peel can be seen anywhere from 1-3 months post-treatment. Once desired results are achieved, you can maintain your glowing appearance with lighter sessions as and when required. See Ola Bella’s full range of chemical peels which will suite your every need.

IS THERE ANY DOWNTIME?

Some chemical peels have little to no downtime while more aggressive treatments can have up to a few days of downtime. Closely following the practitioner’s post-treatment recovery plan can facilitate a speedy healing process without complications.

Side effects from a chemical peel can include redness, swelling, and tenderness. These side effects can subside in as little as several hours with a light peel and up to 1-month with deeper treatments. All exfoliation treatments make your skin more sensitive to the sun thus a sunscreen of SPF# 30 should be used daily, and sun exposure avoided.

IS A CHEMICAL PEEL TREATMENT PAINFULL?

During the treatment, our practitioner will be applying a liquid chemical to your targeted area. Sensitivity is prone to increase in relation to the type and strength of the chemical peel being administered.

TREATMENT AREAS, TO NAME A FEW, INCLUDE:

  • Face

  • Neck

  • Hands

ARE ALL SKINTYPES SUITABLE FOR CHEMICAL PEELS?

All skin types can be safely treated with a low strength chemical peel without significant pain or down-time.

Mild peels are usually suitable for all skin types including those patients with

  • Acne or sensitive skin

  • Acne scarred skin

  • Oily skin

  • Skin with enlarged pores

  • Individuals who have sun-damaged skin, and

  • Dry and ageing skin.

Stronger chemical peels may be considered for severely scarred or deeply damaged skin. Our practitioner can provide you with further information regarding this chemical peel.
